“The wonderful things in life

are the things you do,

not the things you have.”

Reinhold Messner

Flying along the Alaska Range is certainly a highlight of any trip to the last frontier. Being a bush pilot in Alaska must be an amazing profession, as these pilots see the range in all kind of weather and light. At the end of our hiking excursion to Purkey Pile we were rewarded with an overcast day with at least three layers of clouds. I am still admiring the skills of our pilot to find the way home to Kantishna under those conditions and get us safely on the ground. Mount Russell, the perfect pyramid on the right is one of the most beautiful mountains in the range. I dream of visiting again.
