Nature, One Man's Paradise

In a different light – № 2

“Bewilderment increases
in the presence of mirrors.”

Tarjei Vesaas

There is something bewildering about mirror images, as you see “reality” and a distorted replica of it next to each other.

There is also something soothing about mirror images. Glass-like reflections are only possible in the absence of wind, maybe that’s why I associate reflections with calm weather and enjoyment. I am at a loss of words to describe my attraction to these eerie, mystical images, but I  am certainly drawn to.

Do you have a favorite mirror image?

After two balmy days, stormy weather has returned. The Northern Lights were beaming two nights ago and the solar storms are still going strong, however the cloud cover did hide the magic light show…

I am sitting in our dry kitchen, enjoying a cinnamon roll and a hot chocolate. It is pouring outside.

  1. I love mirror images but it’s so damn hard to find calm water without a ripple in Melbourne. I have yet to photograph what I call a really good one.

  2. Would love to have cool enough weather to justify a cup of hot chocolate! But it was 60 degrees this morning (finally!) so winter is coming and with it–chocolate! Hope you enjoyed yours!!!
