Summer Farewell – № 4

“The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment then where is it to be found?”

J.B. Priestley

Is that what I think it is? First snow of the season? They call it termination dust, a light, high altitude snowfall that indicates the end of summer. It’s still August! Well, this may be the start of a real winter. Makes me wonder, what should I do this coming winter? Play in the snow, freeze my buns off, or head for a warm island?

Postscript

J.B. Priestley was a British author and radio broadcaster, who at some point had a tremendous following. It is estimated that around 40 per cent of the adult population in Britain was listening to his commentary following the nine o’clock Sunday news on BBC Radio. His political views raised concerns with the Conservative Party, and he was dropped from the program.
