Shutdown

The night the lights went out, almost.

blog

Thousands of miles away the suits are having last minute discussions on whether to shutdown the government or not. I am celebrating a foot of fresh snow.

The lights stayed on. The park will remain open, for now. Xanterra will foot the bill to have the road plowed. Government buildings will remain closed. This could be a great weekend in the park. Just the locals (bison, elk, moose, foxes, coyotes and us) and fresh powder covering up the landscape. Let’s see what the morning has in store…

  1. That log cabin in the snow looks very inviting (and yes, we’ve being hearing about the Government shutdown…..even in Australia – fills the International News).

  2. I’m envious of your foot of new snow. We just received an unforecast 7.7″ of snow across Monday night and Tuesday; now the cold is filtering back into the area as I’m seeing -1.3° F as of 08:30 on Wednesday (01/24). It has been a very dry winter up here, at least to this point. Our 27.5″ snow pack is still a foot or more shy of where we should be by mid-January. Enjoy that snow and the scenery!

    • Lamar Valley is the dry spot of Yellowstone. That’s a godsend for the herbivores, not so great for skiers and photographers. I am making the best out of it.
At least you don’t have Anchorage weather 🙂
