Rise

North of the Arctic Circle, June 21, 2019

Such is the way of the world
You can never know
Just where to put all your faith
And how will it grow?

Eddie Vedder

Our dear planet turned for another remarkable week.

11.000 scientists declared a climate emergency.

The U.S. will withdraw from the Paris climate accord.

All in the same week.

Where will this all go?

Business as usual? The Paris Climate Summit is history. Now it is time for action. I wonder what will happen today, as a measurable response to the agreement.

Looking into some sources about climate change I found this illustrated atlas of pollution: the world in carbon dioxide emissions. The chart is  free to download.

Here is my rendition of the 5 polluters.

Light and Shadow

blog

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness:
only light can do that.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

Today, the climate summit at Paris concluded. I am not sure what was achieved, an agreement? A non-binding agreement of 200 nations urging their governments by 2020 to do their best keeping the global temperature change below 2°C. At this point, I am reading summaries and commentaries from various news outlets. That leaves me with many questions.

What do you see: The silver lining, or a lot of dark shadows?
